Merz B. Schwanen
The family Merz started the company in 1911, in the Swabian alps in Germany, an area that has been famous for its production of garments. Having passed down the family tradition of manufacturing on circular knitting machines through several generations, the company finally closed down in 2008. When vintage aficionado Peter Plotnicki learned of the beautiful history and expertise
of the company that would disappear, he decided to ask permission to revive the company and continue the label under the same name. The family agreed and with use of the same style vintage circular knitting machines he acquired from an old factory in the area, Merz B. Schwanen now continues to make astonishing circular knitted henley’s, t-shirts and underwear.
