Big John 'Rare' 15,5oz Denim by Nikander

We come across quite a few nicely worn in jeans every week. Many denim aficionado’s bring their baby’s for repairs to our tailor Jacques a.k.a. ‘Der Schneider’ for some refurbishments. The Big John’s you are looking at are a special story though. The pair belonged to our client Nikander who beats the crap out of his jeans in a way that I have seriously never seen before. Have a look at the crazy whiskers and honeycombs and then take in consideration that these Big John’s are fairly wide jeans. Nikander never washed these jeans. He rather hangs them in the ridge of the house using pulleys to get the smelling monsters away from his wife as far as possible. When he believes the jeans are done he starts a new project and this is how we actually met him.

A few years ago he entered Tenue de Nîmes Elandsgracht with three of the most amazing worn denims by Denime and Evisu. He gave them to us before he went home with a fresh pair of Tender Co. jeans, leaving us flabbergasted. This ritual repeated itself a couple of times and this is how we acquired this unbelievably gorgeous pair of ‘Rare’ 15,5oz Big John’s too. At present Nikander is working on a Mister Freedom jean that we hope to share with you some day too!
