Naked & Famous 18OZ 'Big Slub' wear out

We will be receiving some lovely new denim products soon. One of the most interesting brands where it comes to outrages denim fabrics is always Naked & Famous. During our last meeting with the guys in Paris they showed us a new denim we will sell as from next season: 18 OZ Big Slub denim. To get you in the mood we made an image of a worn out pair of Naked & Famous Weird Guy in this heavy and irregular denim fabric. As you can see the looks of this rough weave get more and more intense after some moths of heavy duty.

Naked & Famous will soon present their latest women's jeans at Tenue de Nîmes too! More about that shortly.

Naked & Famous Craziest Jeans in the World

Our friends at Naked and Famous are well known for their outrageous denims and designs. GQ published a video in which Brandon, founder of the Naked & Famous brand, sums up some of his craziest pairs so far.  Tenue de Nîmes is proud to announce that we will soon stock the crazy 32oz Japanese denim by the Canadian gents.

Tenue de Nîmes x Naked and Famous

We have teamed up with the denim-heads at Naked and Famous for a limited run of 24 pairs of jeans in a 13oz green, rope-dyed army repro denim. With admirable attention to detail, a team of people have gone all out on this project. Specific attention has been paid to matching the shade of green perfectly. The mid-green color proved a particular challenge since the dye is very unstable, but the hard work has paid off, giving us a beautiful and truly inspired color.
The production manager of the mill is obsessed with vintage army materials. He has a jaw-dropping collection of old WW2 army fabrics such as uniforms, tents, tarps, bags from which the color for the warp of this particular denim was chosen. The pocket lining is made from a fabric called 'Crusader' and is made in Montreal. It is a rip-stop twill that is usually reserved for the shell of jackets worn by firefighters and military personnel.

The duo logo leather patch is made from a 10oz thick natural veggie tanned bridal leather, most often used to make horse saddles. Every single pair is hand-numbered, signed and shipped in a custom carrier bag with denim belt-loop fastening. Made in Canada. Limited to 24 pairs.

The Battle

Our Naked and Famous battle got an unexpected competitor last week. Our client Carlo van Meel did an amazing job wearing his Naked & Famous Skinny Guy in Broken Twill over the past 7 months. The shades of blue are just absolutely dazzling. We can tell he had a mobile phone in his right pocket a long the entire ride and the back shows beautiful fading of the knees. This proves he got the jeans tight and the fabric really touched the back of his knees while wearing them. Carlo soaked the jeans a couple of times (cold), and washed the jeans for the first time just recently.
To compete with Carlo we got some serious denim-wearing ahead of us! According to Joachim the first hole is in his knee already. More soon.

Naked & Famous x Tenue de Nîmes - Sneak Preview

We are preparing a lovely collaboration with Naked and Famous as we speak. Brandon sent us a preview that we had to share with you guys. You are looking at a  13oz green, rope-dyed army repro selvage denim fabric that Naked & Famous sourced for us in Japan. On top of that Joachim designed a beautiful natural leather patch that embraces both of our Dutch and Canadian origin. We will let you know as soon as this limited run will hit the 'Dam!

Naked & Famous Stage V

Nine months after the start of our Naked and Famous denim contest we hereby present you stage V. Joachim and I have managed to push our wear-outs to the max because we basically wore our denims every single day of the week. The Broken Twill fabric became super soft and light to wear. Therefore we can easily wear our Naked & Famous Skinny Guy jeans through the entire Spring-Summer season. Both of us need a thin belt to hold the jeans to our hips. As you can see on the images 1-3 (Menno) and 4-6 (Joachim) the wear out has a lot of differences. Joachim did not do anything to them since 7 months which resulted in a dirty, yellowish look. My jeans have a less dirty, blue cast because I soaked the jeans one more time recently (two in total).

The last stage of our Naked & Famous wear out will be the most spectacular. Jeans tend to change the most in the last stage because the contrast gets more and more intense. To be continued!

Naked & Famous Stage IV

We received a request through Twitter yesterday if we could share another Naked and Famous update again. Our wear out battle started with three rigid N&F Skinny Guy jeans in broken twill. I hereby share my jeans after 6 months of heavy wear and two soaks. The jeans show an amazing light blue fade and the 'v' structure of the broken twill starts to appear on the edge. Because I sit on one knee all the time in our Red Wing store my right knee is much more faded than the left one. I soaked the jeans twice, once after 4 months the second time after nearly six. I advise you to wash the jeans shortly on 40ºC without soap. The temperature supports the contrast without extra bleach due to soap. Make sure you do not centrifuge the jeans, but hang it out to dry (completely wet) for a day or two. When the jeans have dried they will feel almost as rigid as when you bought them. I am ready for stage 5. Have a look at all the images by clicking left or right on the first image shown. Enjoy the show.

In Spring Rene, Joachim and I started a contest to create the perfect Naked and Famous wear out after seeing Brandon's 'Skinny Guy Broken Twill' after one year of wear. We simply thought we could do a better job. After 3 months of intense wear it felt the right moment to give you the first impression of what happened with the jeans. Joachim will share his interim score at AS soon.

The out seam shows a lovely light blue wear because it is always the part that scratches the stuff you touch wit the upper leg. Amsterdam is the city of bikes and the crotch reveal some nice damage made by my leather Brooks saddle.

The one thing you don't want in your backpocket when you jump on your bike is scissors. Have a look at the repair on the right back pocket. Luckily our master tailor Mehmet repaired it with another remarkably gentle touch.
