MomotaroEurope Label ER007-2B Tight Fit Straight
This highly unusual indigo warp and a sulphur black weft make this fabric a true one-of-a-kind. The warp is manipulated to give it the blue/green tone of natural indigo after secular distortion. The pink color inseam and selvage both refer to the 'Momo', or peach in Japanese.
The silhouette of this jeans is the same as 0705SP. The rise is medium low; the leg is tight and straight. The outside sewing yarn is 100% cotton. It has hidden rivets and a classic leather patch. Fabric: 15oz Grand Blue selvage denim.

Tenue de Nîmes x Momotaro - Deadstock Sulphur Denim
We are proud to announce Tenue de Nîmes teamed up with one of the world's most exclusive denim brands: Momotaro Jeans from Kojima, Japan. We crafted a number of jeans made of a 12 oz sulphur denim, specially selected for this collaboration by the Japanese experts. This cloth is twenty year old deadstock that was sourced at the Rampuya factory warehouse in Japan. Because of the limited amount of material that was available, the Momotaro factory could only produce 17 pairs. The slow weave is solid to the touch, but the fabric is surprisingly light weight. The yarn used for this particular denim is a so-called multi-count yarn, which has irregular thickness.
The grey fabric symbolizes the era of the early 1900s and will create a great contrast the more it is worn. Unlike many other sought after denim brands, Momotaro is not only world famous for their home made denim fabrics - their premium Japanese jeans are unrivalled. All the jeans were made in Japan and are for sale exclusively at Amsterdam's finest denim store for €329,90.
Mini denim by Momotaro Jeans
We have been traveling many miles over the last couple of weeks. We met with great brands, many lovely people and saw the best cities of Europe in very little time. Last week we met with our friend Katsu at the Capsule show to have a look at his new Momotaro denims for the winter season of 2012.
He showed us an incredible follow-up of the iconic Momotaro E007-2b jeans. Momotaro made a double indigo blue 0702 jean that is even darker than the E007-2b they released last year. On top of that Katsu showed us the smallest selvage denim ever made. This pair (appr. 15 cm's high) was presented next to one of the most incredible denim wear outs we have see for a long time. Katsu's 'Go to War' jeans were not for sale unfortunately. But they were most defenitly something we did not want to keep away from you guys. More soon.

Tenue de Nîmes & Momotaro in Japanese Magazine Lightning
Our friends at Momotaro asked us if we wanted to be featured in the Japanese magazine Lightning. Well, that is a rhetorical question I believe. For us denim heads there is nothing more credible than Japanese magazines like Lightning or Free & Easy in terms of denim and style.
The Lightning crew asked us to share our favorite pair of denim with the their readers. Rene and I selected the Momotaro E007-2B: We absolutely love this highly unusual jeans with an indigo warp and a sulphur black weft. The warp is manipulated to give it the blue/green tone of natural indigo after secular distortion. The pink color inseam and selvage refer to the 'Momo', or peach in Japanese. The silhouette of this jeans is the same as 0705SP. The rise is medium low; the leg is tight and straight.
As soon as the magazine goes to press we will update you guys with a Dutch spread in this Japanese magazine.
Interview Masaharo Suwaki at Japan Blue
Almost one year ago we had the pleasure to meet with Masaharo Suwaki, the Executive Director of Japan Blue. Because Tenue de Nîmes works closely with the Manabe family on several denim projects in Europe mister Suwaki came to Amsterdam to have a discussion about the new plans for their denim label Momotaro.
After a great conversation and some amazing Japanese presents like natural wooden sake cups they flew to Paris to attend the Premiere Vision.
Mark at the 189 tweeted about an in depth interview with mister Suwaki today. Have a look here for a fantastic behind the scenes look at one of the worlds most amazing denim companies around. Enjoy!
Momotaro Vintage Label 9 Months
A client of ours by the name of Dagomar is one of the most fanatical denim enthusiasts we have in our clientele. Ten months ago he bought a Momotaro Vintage label, slim fit straight at Tenue de Nîmes. After one soak and his first wash (after 8 months) the pair did not shrink at all, so he decided to trim and chain-stitch them. We were so amazed by the reult of his wear out that we simply wanted to share his adventure with you.
Have a look at this lovely pair that Dagomar recently washed on 40ºC without using any soap. His comment was that he washed it warm because it seems to emphasize the color differences better. It creates a more intense contrast so to say, without having the soap damaging the deep indigo tones and make it 'flat'.
After washing (without centrifuging) he decided to wear his pair immediately while being wet. The jeans basically dried while he wore them during the day. All you denim fetishists will know this, but for those of you who never did something like this: this process will get your body shape into the garment extremely well. Especially when it is done with salted (sea) water.
The coin pocket is always our favorite part of the wear out. Especially when the owner of the jeans uses it for change. The part where the turn-up touches the leg you will always get these strange holes. This is just because the seam is way stronger than the denim on the leg itself. Compare it to the crotch: It will always break, no matter what kind of tough denim you will wear. The (double) seamed parts are just to strong for the denim that touches it. But hey, any repair will add value to your favorite pair won't it?
Momotaro exclusive
I promised you I would show more extraordinary Momotaro releases after last weeks entry. Have a look at one of the most unusual fabrics we ever sold at Tenue de Nîmes. Your are looking at the ER007-3B made from an non-dyed yarn. This 13oZ Mlang denim has a mixed grey and white warp. These jeans will become lighter after wear. Heartbreaking isn't it? More Momotaro soon at our webshop.
Double Indigo
The Momotaro team keeps on surprising us with their unlimited denim master crafts. This week we got our hands on this 'double dye' denim with an indigo warp and a sulphur black weft. This is a highly exclusive line that will be available only temporarily.
The white and red selvage and yellow chain stitch provide a lovely contrast at the turn-up. Who would not want pockets made from soft, light-blue chambray? One of the most remarkable details of these Momotaro jeans are the (cotton plant) logo rivets. Let's just say there is a story in every detail. How will we ever match this pair of super denim?
