Kim Schaafsma
(Online) Retail Manager Tenue de Nîmes
My motto in life would have to be: be happy with who you are and aim to inspire others with your passion. I graduated in Fashion and Branding from the Amsterdam Fashion Institute in 2010. At some point during my third year in college, I happened to walk into an impressive store on the Elandsgracht in Amsterdam. That's when I was first introduced to the Tenue de Nimes name and concept. My relationship with Tenue de Nimes started then and there, and over the course of these past four years it has developed into a very special bond. I am aware of this blessing every single day. My primary responsibilities within Tenue de Nimes cover the webshop and all online activities. It therefore gives me great pride to introduce the completely revamped website.
This aside, I am the main liaison between the physical stores and I am heavily involved in any project that Tenue de Nimes conceives and develops. Same for the Red Wing Shoe Store Amsterdam. I can honestly say that my job is my passion! My great love is music and I get my energy from running, spending quality time with people I hold dear, good food, travelling, photography and architecture. I strongly and absolutely believe in doing your own thing. It is my pleasure to introduce myself and would herewith also love to introduce you to a selection of my personal favorites. I hope you will adore them and please feel free to get in touch.
Favorites
Pandora Bracelet
I've had this bracelet for years, and every once and a while I would add a trinket to it. Each of these trinkets represents a cherished memory so this bracelet has now become a wearable collection of memories. I wear it all the time -literally day and night- on my right wrist, where I also have my salamander tattoo.
Necklace
I never leave home without accessories. A nice necklace, ring or earrings truly complement any outfit. At the moment I can't stop wearing a necklace that I bought in Kopenhagen. It is subtle, understated, timeless and yet special enough to notice.
Royal Republic Boots
Timeless and easily combined with any outfit. These shoes have been to numerous cities and countries and saw their fair share of parties and festivals. According to my friends my boots and I go together like a horse and carriage.
My Cat Doebie
I've only had this little guy for a little while but already I can't imagine my life without him. He came from a shelter and an uncaring home before that. Would that not make you want to provide a better home for this cuddly, handsome little dude?!
Denim Waistcoat
I bought a denim coat on eBay to turn it into a waistcoat myself. It came in a perfect washing so I can now wear it in numerous ways in various outfits. Best of all, I now have another timeless piece of clothing in my wardrobe.
Guitar
I was brought up with, and always surrounded by, music. I now have a cupboard full of cd's and my iTunes and Spotify have trouble keeping up with me. I regularly go enjoy live music and even play a few chords myself. If you 'get' music, you 'get' life. As Angus & Julia Stone sing about in one of their songs: "Life is a stranger, that won't go away!"
Perfume Gypsy Water
I have found my perfume. The one I identify with completely and will always wear. Nothing comes between the 100 ml bottle and me. "The scent of fresh soil, deep forests and campfires illustrates the dream of a free, colorful lifestyle close to nature". It's a shame technology has not yet advanced to the stage where laptops, tablets or cell phones can give you a whiff of colognes or perfumes such as this one but I do hope you, the reader, get an idea of what I am talking about.
