Anneke Beerkens

Anneke Beerkens (1980) received a master’s degree in cultural anthropology from the University of Amsterdam (with honors). She combines working as a junior teacher at UvA with her research at Bunka Fashion College in Tokyo. This project focuses on the future perspectives of Japanese youth aspiring a career in fashion design. Anneke’s book “ModeGoden,” based on her former research on Tokyo street fashion will be published this April.

Hailing from a creative family, Denise knew from a very early age that she loved drawing. She started freelancing after graduating from Willem de Kooning academy in 2005. Denise create her illustrations with graphite, pen and (colored)pencil.

Hiyoko Imai

A Tokyo-born illustrator, designer, Hiyoko currently lives in Amsterdam. She loves to create things with her own hands. To Hiyoko, inspiration comes from cooking, balcony-gardening, walking and dreaming. She favors craftsmanship and minimalistic design.

Hugo Verweij

Hugo Verweij is a sound and music designer, strongly influenced by the sonic inspiration he finds in the world around him as well as in visual aesthetics. He creates sound and music for contemporary dance, installations, radio, interfaces and motion graphics. In designing new experiences he believes that what we hear is equally important as what we see. Hugo is also a lecturer of sound design and music production at the Utrecht school of the arts.

Joachim Baan is a creative director and photographer working under the name Another Company. His main focus lies in art, fashion and communication and is also the creative partner at Tenue de Nîmes. He runs the very successful lifestyle blog Another Something and started his small online boutique called Another Shop two years ago.

John D Barron

Born and raised in Toronto, Canada, John is a 4th generation collector, and started collecting when he was 13 yrs old, obsessing about vintage clothing such as vintage Levis' jeans. He has so far worked for the likes of like Acne, Nudie, and G-Star.
Collecting and restoring vintage diving and military watches since 2002 has resulted in the resurrection of more than 100 rare and highly collectible watches from such iconic brands as Tudor, Blancpain and Heuer. His current darling is his 1968 Tudor "Small rose" Submariner reference 7016/0, which he restored in order to one day pass on to his now 5 year old son, Liam.

Luis Mendo is a editorial designer, art director and illustrator. He founded his company GOOD Inc. in 2005 
Born in Spain in 1969, Luis has been drawing all his life and designing for the last 14 years. In june 2005 he was chosen as one of the “Top 10 best Art Directors in NL”. Luis writes in books, blogs and magazines, is part of juries, teaches editorial design and gives lectures & workshops internationally. Born in Paris in 1980 and educated in Dublin, Ireland where he moved at a young age, Marc studied political science at Trinity College. Throughout university Marc worked in the fashion industry, most notably for Cuan Hanly (formerly of paul Smith, now at Jack spade). He moved to Amsterdam in December 2009, where they have settled with a Dutch dog called Reiko. Marc works as a Business Consultant for an international IT services company, but his true passions lie in (the Dutch style of) cycling, photography, design, fashion and food & drink.

Olivier van der Hagen

While initially looking to continue his corporate career, Olivier did some soul searching and left the bank he had been working for. During his self-imposed sabbatical, he met his neighbors, Tenue de Nimes and a friendship was quickly struck up as he finally found people who were passionate about their jobs. Before long he was editing Journal 3, and increased his involvement from Journal nr 4 onwards with several articles each issue. He is now a free lance writer, having been published in various magazines aside from the Journal.

Born in Norway and formally educated in graphic Design and interactive media at the Danish school of Design and most recently in illustration at the hogeschool voor de kunsten in utrecht, a new found love for the Dutch helped sivert decide to stay in the Netherlands, while he makes the transition from studies to work. our *wunderkind* designer is used to life in the trenches, with a passion of competitive computer gaming, for which he writes and edits his own news site. he also has a background as a drill instructor in the royal guards of the Norwegian army, where he was evaluated as being "100% above normal" (ed: or so he tells us).

Thomas Tukker is a Dutch fashion photographer with a strong fascination for water. He started his career as a professional diver, and his experience in that field has helped him become an internationally respected underwater photographer too. Over the course of more than a decade, Thomas mainly worked abroad, but after fourteen years in places such as Miami, Milan and New York, he finally returned to amsterdam, his city of birth.
