Denim Video: Blue Jeans, A Fabric of Freedom
Tuesday, May 8, 2012
We came across a great denim video thanks to Blue Gold Blues today. The short documentary shows a nice history of our beloved denim cloth. Now we all know jeans went from workmen to fashion stores and I guess we also know denim was a lot better back in the days. Since Levi's decided to move their production channels to foreign countries it all went down as from the late eighties, early nineties. Their jeans became mass produced and cheaper fabrics came into play.
But there is hope! Not only because Levi's decided to get back into quality denim with their Levi's Vintage Clothing, but also because small, well crafted jeans brands like Tellason, Roy and Imogene + Willie decided it was time to bring denim home. More about Imogene + Willie from Nashville, Tennessee soon at Tenue de Nîmes. Stay tuned.
Women's denim & style
Friday, May 4, 2012
Our women's buyer Linda Ubink reports on a daily basis on women's denim and style through her Pinterest. She uses her online pin board to share all the lovely stuff she finds during her buying trips, in various cities around the globe or somewhere online. Every once in a while she will share her favorite women's denim and style shots she gathered during that month.
Today we share her first selection featuring vintage Levi's 501's, heavily damaged Acne jeans and the ultimate summer must-have a 'trucker' jeans jacket. Stay tuned!

We are pleased to inform you Tenue de Nîmes have been secretly working on a new collaboration. This time with LA denim brand Rail Car Fine Goods. Railcar Fine Goods jeans construction are hand-crafted in Railcar's workshop Arcadia, CA using traditional and vintage industrial sewing machines. To show you a more in-depth look in the RCFG most popular fit 'Spikes 002' we hereby present you a worn pair by our friend Junichi Kitamura from Okinawa, Japan. He did an amazing job with his pair and washed them once after wearing them for 6 months. If you like to follow Junichi Kitamura check out his instagram or weblog. More images posted at Rawrdenim. Nudie Jeans Guado Denim at Tenue de Nîmes
Wednesday, April 25, 2012
Since ancient times the Woad plant has been used to color all kinds of textile in all kinds of cultures. Nowadays the vast majority of indigo used to dye garments is synthetically produced. But thanks to an enthusiastic community of people in Marche, Italy the traditional way to produce indigo from Woad or Guado as they call it, has been revived. The Woad is a flowering plant that looks like a kind of cabbage. It’s commonly known as 'Dyer’s Woad'. The green leaves can be harvested six times in a year. But it is only the first year the leaves can be used for dying. The process is labour intense. It takes 1000 kilos of leaves to make 1 kilo of dye.
We at Tenue de Nîmes are proud to announce we exclusively stock the first limited edition collection of 'Guado/Woad' jeans in the Netherlands. Each garment has a special Woad/Guado stamp and a unique number from 1-700. We will soon release a new magazine in which we will provide a more in-depth look of this groundbreaking Nudie Jeans denim collection. Products online soon.
