Tenue de Nîmes Playlist by Rudy Ross: Kurt Vile x Levi's
I wasn’t surprised when I found out that Levi’s had picked Kurt Vile
as one of their brand ambassadors
for their new campaign The Live in Levi’s
Project, but happier more so to see that finally the world has a new Indie Rock Icon that can follow in the footsteps of legends like Bruce Springsteen, The Ramones and Nirvana. Not that these cats were ever put in commercials (as far as I know of..) for Levi’s but for me they were just that. My role models. When I played those Ramones records in my bedroom I looked at those covers over and over and studied their looks real close. I wanted to be just like them! Levis equals rock ’n roll, punkrock and the working class in my opinion, it goes hand in hand.
So here’s Kurt Vile. An American singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and producer. He is best known for his solo career with his band Kurt Vile & The Violaters and as a former member of The War On Drugs. He started his musical career by setting up lo-fi recordings in a home studio at his longtime friend Adam Granduciel (The War On Drugs) house. Clearly inspired by artists/bands as The Ramones, Pavement, Bruce Springsteen and Neil Young he’s the spokesperson for a new generation of kids all looking for real music made by real people.
