The Good Things in Life

Nothing but Craftsmanship at Manchester's Private White

Since March of this year Rene and I are also known as Manchester’s 'Lucky Rabbits'. It was during Winter that we were invited by our friends Mike and James over at Private White to come and see their Private White headquarters. But before we were introduced to the legacy of one of England’s most amazing outerwear companies these fine gents insisted to take us to a United game at Old Trafford.
Manchester United beat Tottenham Hotspur that day after they scored 3 goals in less than 30 minutes. It was on that particular moment that our friend Mike (with a big smile on his face) said: “God bless the Dutch, you’re my lucky rabbits - I’m gonna take you every bloody game! I’m telling’ ya!”. Let’s say that we could not have thought of a better introduction to the soul of the city than witnessing this euphoric moment at the Man’ United game.
The Private White brand is like a family. Every single Private White garment is made in its own factory in the heart of Manchester. The factory has been operating for over 100 years and made jackets for many great British labels like: Burberry, Paul Smith and Crombie. Every stage of the make is done by hand and the full production process takes place within the walls of their historical building. The brand is only using the finest British fabrics, trims and components, sourced locally where possible.
To celebrate the start of the Tenue de Nîmes x Private White partnership we selected two iconic Private White jackets for our Tenue de Nîmes stores: The Ventile® Combat Travel Blazer and the SB4 Unlined Ventile Rain Coat. Ventile® is a special British fabric (made for the soldiers in WWII) that was introduced to us for the first time in 2009 by Nigel Cabourn. These two stunning Private White Jackets are the perfect answer to the September showers as they are smart, easy to wear and totally waterproof. Let autumn begin!
